Today's Memory:  The year was 1974.  Gas rationing, maximum speed limits of 55mph were imposed - you were asked not to put up Christmas lights to conserve energy and you could only buy gas on odd or even days depending on the last digit of your license plate.  Close your eyes and I bet you can still see those endless lines of cars while you waited, sometimes for hours to buy your petrol. I remember my parents paying me to wait in line for them!  It was the year Watergate began; it was the year when a new home cost $37,400 and the average income was $13,900.
